    1. NextStep for Youth Transitioning Out of Foster Care assists young people through the transition from foster care to independence. Volunteers mentor youth going through process of transitioning out of foster care.

  2. Bet Tzedek

    Type of Opportunities:
    1. Self-Help Conservation Clinic
      • Help families in need navigate the conservatorship court process for family members with developmental disabilities.
      • Every Monday and Tuesday at the Los Angeles Law Library from 9-12.
    2. Advance Planning Clinic
      • Meet with low-income clients to help with end-of-life planning (i.e., assist with drafting a will and health care directive).
      • Every third Friday each month from 1-5 p.m.
    3. Name and Gender Marker Change Petition Clinics
      • Meet with clinic participants to help review options about name and gender marker changes and, if request, assist with drafting the petition.
      • Every third Tuesday each month at Bet Tzedek's Wilshire office at 5 p.m.

  3. Inner City Law Center

    Type of Opportunities:
    1. The Inner City Law Center has a variety of programs aimed at ending homelessness in Los Angeles, including through eviction defense, representing homeless veterans, and litigating on behalf of low-income tenants.

  4. Neighborhood Legal Services Los Angeles

    Type of Opportunities:
    1. NLSLA offers a variety of clinics, including the Self-Help Legal Access Centers clinic, the Domestic Abuse Self-Help Clinic, the Consumer Debt Clinic, the Shriver Housing Self-Help Center, the Unemployment Clinic, the Clean Slate Clinics, and housing clinics.
    2. Volunteers are required to complete a series of training modules and commit to staff a clinic once a month for at least three months.

  5. Public Counsel

    Type of Opportunities:
    1. Federal Pro Se Clinic
      • The clinic assists unrepresented federal court litigants with civil cases in the Central District of California.
    2. Los Angeles Bankruptcy Clinic
      • The clinic provides 30-minute consultations with attorneys via Zoom or in person at the Roybal Federal Courthouse.
    3. Community Legal Clinic
      • The clinic provides information and advice to clinic participants in areas such as landlord-tenant law, family law, general civil litigation, and bankruptcy/consumer debt.
      • Second Saturday each month from 9-12 at the Jackie Robinson Community Center in Pasadena.

  6. Teach Democracy (formerly Constitutional Rights Foundation)

    Type of Opportunities:
    1. Courtroom to Classroom (winter/spring)
      • Courtroom to Classroom brings legal volunteers to middle and high school classrooms to present PPT lessons that deal with the history of the Constitution and engage students in a moot court activity. Volunteers can present by themselves or with a friend or colleague.
    2. Dialogues on Freedom (spring)
      • Fosters discussion in high school classrooms in LA County on constitutional civil liberties and values fundamental to the American system of government. Teams of lawyers and judges lead students through a lesson that encourages dialogue on current events and issues.
      • Note that this program is a collaboration with the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
    3. Mock Trial (fall/spring)
      • Mock Trial provides students with an opportunity to experience the drama of the courtroom by portraying witnesses and lawyers trying a fictional case. Volunteers can score student participants and preside over trials.
  7. Watts Empowerment Center
