Event Description:
Please join us for a unique opportunity that should appeal to every company and patent litigator with cases in the Central District of California. This district has consistently ranked in the top 5 patent litigation venues in the country, with hundreds of new cases every year. Many are handled through the Court's Patent Program, which evolved from a ten-year pilot that began in 2011. Under the Program, district and magistrate judges who have volunteered to receive patent cases serve on a district-wide patent assignment wheel. But each judge may have unique procedures and preferences for patent cases, and multiple new judges joined the Program recently in 2022. In this virtual presentation, we'll hear from a distinguished panel of both new and long-serving district and magistrate judges who will provide important insights on how the Patent Program works, the Court's special patent clerk program, and each judge's own approach to presiding over patent cases from early motion practice through discovery and trial.

Experienced patent litigators Yuri Mikulka and Ellisen Turner will moderate the panel, which will include at least recently appointed District Judges John Holcomb and George Wu, and long-serving District Judge John Selna and Magistrate Judge Michael Wilner.
